Spoke too soon

Yep, I spoke too soon.

On Tuesday Su and I set off on the Westbury Park and around the Downs route that we usually do. We have been doing this regularly since November and I recently commented on how much lighter and warmer it has become....spring is on it's way, hoolie!!. I spoke too soon.

There was a bit of light rain when we set off but by the time we had reached the Downs and were running towards Sea Walls the wind was up and had turned the gentle rain into harsh, stinging drops and, as we trudged along in the posture of someone shouldering a car up a hill, once again hot invective came into mind and there was plenty of fu fu sh sh fu, oh fu from me. By the time we got home we looked like a couple of drowned rats....but actually I like running in the rain...no, seriously I do.

Phil is training for the Bath half and I'm not, so our runs have to be curtailed until that's over. Yesterday I set off on my own armed with my ipod and L's ipod earphones (as the dog has chewed mine) and I can honestly say the tunes made a huge difference to my pace and endurance so I have decided, even with the inevitable risk of exposing my un-coolness, to post the list I ran to.

In no particular order:

I Kissed a Girl-Katy Parry
Keeps Gettin' Better-Christina Aguilera
Black and Gold-Sam Sparro
I Like the Way-Bodyrockers (obvious one?)
SexyBack-Justin Timberlake
Flashdance:Maniac-Michael Sambello (Oh the shame!-but don't knock it 'til you've tried it)
Dizzy-Vic Reeves (sorry)
I See You baby-Groove Armada
Chariots of Fire-Vangelis (I know, I know)
...trying to scrape some cred back now...
Sex on Fire-Kings of Leon
Peacock Suit-Paul Weller
Spirit of Radio-Rush

Jon also suggested the theme tune to Rocky; seems I'm not the only un-cool one.

Wow you're brave! I'm so ashamed of my running playlist, I won't even let my girlfriend see it!!

I still find it amazing that listening to music can make such a difference to the run. I always run with my mp3 player but, like Hauling My Carcass, very rarely divulge what I am listening to. So well done for "coming out" with your playlist!!
